While many of us enjoy the sunshine, sometimes there are reasons for rooms to be kept dark during the daylight hours. The most common reason for darkened daytime rooms is to allow for comfortable and restful sleep. Whether the sleeper is a night time worker that sleeps during the day, a baby that rests better without the light shining in or someone who is sick and needs dark to rest well, there are many reasons for keeping a room dark for part of the day. Blackout curtains are the perfect solution, as they can be set up to truly block out 90% of the light coming in the windows.

How to Wear a Sari (Saree)
No exotic fancy dress, but a garment that is worn daily by women through the length and breadth of India, 5 metres of continuous fabric. Unstitched. Yet a perfect fit for every figure. And not as complicated to wear as you might suppose.

Step 1
At least part of the secret of the sari are the "underneath" garments - a waist -to- floor length petticoat, tied tightly at the waist by a drawstring. (No elastic, please!) And a tight fitting blouse that ends just below the bust - short sleeved or sleeveless, with a variety of necklines.

Step 2
Starting at the navel, tuck the plain end of the sari into the petticoat for one complete turn from right to left. Make sure that the lower end of the sari touches the floor.

Step 3 & 4
Beginning from the tucked-in end start making pleats in the sari, about 5 inches deep. Make about 7 to 10 pleats and hold them up together so that they fall straight and even.

Step 5
Tuck the pleats into the waist slightly to the left of the navel, and make sure that they are turned towards the left.

Step 6
Drape the remaining fabric around yourself once more left to right, and bring it up under the right arm and over the left shoulder so that it falls to about the level of the knees.

Step 7
The end portion thus draped is the pallav, and can be prevented from slipping off by fixing it at the shoulder to the blouse with a small.

- Never Machine wash a sari. A sari should be either delicately hand washed or dry cleaned.
- Do not wash with a detergent in the beginning.
- After two or three plain water washes, use a good detergent and clean quickly. Do not keep the sari soaked in detergent for long.
- Do not brush or lash a Silk Saree. This would lead to tearing of the zari.
- Wash (Pallu) Mundi and Border separately in the beginning.
- Do not bundle and keep wet for a long time.
- In case of stains, wash with cold water immediately.
- For hard stains get the Sari Dry Cleaned.Do not bundle the wet saree along with inferior variety choly etc.
- While ironing, keep the iron in medium or low heat.
It is recommended to iron the saree between two pieces of cloth. It is not recommended to wet the saree prior to ironing or to use a steam iron. Store sarees in a cool dry place.
How to measure for Curtains
Top Style: Pole Tops (Rod Pocket), Tab Tops and Ring Tops Use a steel measuring tape - cloth tapes are not accurate. Take exact measurements - round down to the nearest of an Inch as we do not make fractions of an Inch. On your notes, clearly indicate which measurement is the width and which is the length. It is very common to transpose measurements.
Measuring Width The width specified is always for 1 curtain. For example if the specified width is 44 Inches and the unit of sale is a pair (2 curtains), then you would get 2 curtains each measuring 44 Inches.
To arrive at the proper width of your window, measure from the outside of the molding (not the glass), unless window treatment is inside molding. Fullness should be 1 1/2 - 2 times this measurement, depending on the style of curtain and personal taste.
Measuring Length To arrive at the proper length for your curtain, measure from the top of molding (not the glass), or top of the curtain rod, if rods are already in place, to the point where you want the bottom of your curtain to be.
Additional Notes Pole Tops (Rod Pocket) Curtains. If you order a 84 Inch Rod Pocket curtain, it will have a 3 Inch Rod Pocket and a 81 inches drop below that.Our rod pocket styles do not include header (ruffle) in the finished length. This is particularly important when measuring for an inside installation.
Tab Tops If you order a 84 Inch Tab Top curtain, it will have a 4 Inch Tab Top and a 80 inches drop below that.Our rod pocket styles do not include header (ruffle) in the finished length.
Sari Fabric
With proper care and attention, Sari fabric can be preserved for ages without losing its luster or freshness. Follow the directions below carefully and your Sari curtains/duvets/cushion covers etc would last longer with the same sheen as a new one!
